About Us
Our story
Since its creation in 1990 under the impetus of the Congolese State, Socotram has established itself as a key player in maritime transport in Africa. From its launch, Socotram was designed to meet the strategic needs of the Congo in terms of maritime and river transport, by exploiting traffic rights in accordance with the UNCTAD Convention on the Code of Conduct for Liner Conferences.
Since 1991, Socotram has implemented a three-phase development plan: optimization of traffic rights, chartering of spaces on partner ships, and the gradual creation of its own fleet. Thanks to strategic agreements with international shipping companies in Northern Europe, Italy, France and South Africa. Our company has rapidly expanded its network and strengthened its presence on the international maritime scene.

From past to future, our commitment remains intact

In 1996, a major reform was initiated with decree No. 2421, further opening Congolese maritime traffic to foreign shipping companies while strengthening Socotram's position as a national shipping company. This reform allowed the company to modernize and diversify its activities, particularly with the creation of subsidiaries specializing in handling and transit.
Today, Socotram is recognized as a national armament by decree n°1989 MTAMAM-CAB of April 11, 2009. It offers world-class logistics solutions, connecting Congolese ports to international markets. With continuous investments in the training of sailors, the acquisition of modern equipment and the development of strategic partnerships, Socotram embodies maritime excellence and actively contributes to the economic development of Congo and the region.
